Brandon’s organization, a large, national commercial and specialty insurer was seeking to grow revenue through rapid business acquisition and faster go-to-market strategy, improve underwriting efficiency & risk quality using state of the art technology platforms, improve underwriter and broker interaction through online portal technology, and reduce cost through process automation.
His organization acknowledged that the time spent on core underwriting, broker interfacing, and operations interaction is very high, the end to end UW lifecycle is manually intensive and risk prone, and opportunities exist to streamline IT and analytics. As part of the journey the insurer partnered with a new software as a service (SaaS) company to deploy their insurance fulfillment engine that provides full QBI (Quote, Bind, Issue) automation through an improved customer-focused sales experience which simplifies carrier operations and integration.
Brandon will present how his organization utilized a process repository, applied process reference models, and used simulation to map the current and future state underwriting operations – and in the process identified several pain points, opportunities to improve efficiencies, and iterated their ultimate vision for the technology based on the findings.
Brandon Mezick
Chief Operating Officer - Iron Health
Brandon Mezick is IronHealth’s Chief Operating Officer. IronHealth is a business unit of IronShore, a Liberty Mutual Company. In his current role, he is responsible for all key strategic and tactical initiatives in support of the production, profit, distribution, and claims activities – as well as identifying opportunities for operational improvements, including collaboration across GRS.
Prior to becoming COO, Brandon was a Vice President in IronHealth where he was responsible for underwriting alternative risk and reinsurance transactions and strategic/operational initiatives. Prior to re-joining IronHealth, Brandon was a Manager in Accenture’s Financial Service Practice, where he was engaged in projects focused on operating model and organizational design, distribution strategy, and change management for commercial insurers, brokerages, and select government agencies.
Prior to Accenture, Brandon was a Regional Manager/AVP in IronHealth, where he was responsible for underwriting healthcare liability and distribution management in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Prior to joining Ironshore, Brandon held healthcare liability underwriting positions at AIG and Zurich North America in New York City.
Brandon holds a BS from Cabrini College and an MBA from Villanova University.
